Hospital Offers Free Flu Shots to Seniors

Share

If the arrival of flu season is not especially cheery news, Glendale Adventist Medical Center is softening the blow by offering free flu shots to seniors.

The center will immunize 200 Glendale residents, 60 and older, at no cost Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis in the emergency department at the hospital, 1509 Wilson Terrace.

Those who are allergic to eggs, are ill or have a fever, and pregnant women should not be vaccinated, the hospital said.

Medical experts suggest that seniors be immunized to prevent or lessen the effects of influenza, and say those with health problems, including diabetes, heart conditions, high blood pressure or respiratory problems, are especially vulnerable to the virus.

Parking will be available in the outpatient parking area. For more information, call (818) 409-8202.
