Cat Trapped 5 Weeks in Wall Dies After Rescue

A kitten trapped within an apartment’s bathroom wall for five weeks died as rescuers using high-tech equipment tried to save it, the rescuers said Friday.

Various experts had been called in to try and free the traumatized cat, which they located with thermal-imaging equipment often used to find people trapped in accidents or earthquakes.

A team of three men worked about 16 hours, an International Rescue Corps spokesman said, and after removing the bathtub the kitten was retrieved.

“It was actually alive,” the spokesman said. “But for whatever reason, and it’s probably the noise, the cat just died.”
