Kansas State Barely Gets Past Missouri
Chad May threw two touchdown passes despite his worst performance of the season and No. 11 Kansas State stopped Missouri on a fourth-and-goal from the three in the final minute to salvage a 21-18 victory Saturday.
Freshman Chris Canty knocked down a pass by Jeff Handy in the end zone with 39 seconds to go.
Kansas State, 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the Big Eight, led, 21-10, after J.J. Smith scored on a five-yard run with 7:04 left. Missouri (3-7, 2-4) answered when Handy threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to freshman Brock Olivo with 5:21 to play and Handy passed for a two-point conversion.
A shanked 18-yard punt helped Missouri get in position to win it.
