Luck Finally Runs Out on Duke as N.C. State Rallies to Win, 24-23
The charmed season of 18th-ranked Duke hit the skids Saturday as North Carolina State rallied in the second half for a 24-23 victory in a game with major bowl implications.
It kept alive the hopes of the Wolfpack, 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, for at least a share of the ACC title with league-leading Florida State (8-1, 7-0), which plays at Raleigh next weekend.
“It (winning the ACC title) is still a long shot but we have that opportunity,” said Wolfpack Coach Mike O’Cain.
Duke (8-2, 5-2), seeking its first nine-victory season since the 1941 Rose Bowl team, took advantage of three turnovers by Terry Harvey in the first half to build a 20-7 halftime lead.
