Hunter Lives on Edge of Luck as Knife Stops Bullet
Associated Press
MINOT, N.D. —
The knife a hunter kept in his shirt pocket stopped a bullet from hitting his heart.
Howard Lemere escaped with only a cracked rib after another hunter accidentally shot him. The bullet hit the large hunting knife in his shirt’s upper left-hand pocket.
Lemere, 28, and a friend were hunting deer Wednesday when they flushed a coyote. A hunter nearby took three shots, one which hit Lemere. The shooter got into his car and sped off, Lemere said. The Renville County sheriff’s office is investigating.
