BioSource’s Profits for 3rd Quarter Decline

Share

Consolidation and moving expenses diminished the third-quarter profit reported by BioSource International Inc., a Camarillo-based supplier of materials and test kits used in biomedical research.

The company reported earnings of $85,664 in the quarter that ended Sept. 30, compared to a year-earlier profit of $218,702. Sales totaled $1.62 million in the third quarter, up 12% from $1.45 million a year earlier.

The third quarter results reflected $160,000 in costs related to the consolidation of the company’s operations at a new facility in Camarillo, where the company has been based since 1990. Manufacturing, research, shipping and warehouse activities were moved from a facility in Burbank.

“All employees except sales staff are now in one location and our monthly facility lease costs have been cut in half,” said James Chamberlain, chief executive of BioSource.

For the first nine months of the year, BioSource reported earnings of $411,604 on sales of $4.87 million, compared to a year-earlier profit of $419,021 on revenue of $4.06 million.
