AGOURA HILLS : Park Service Fills Recreation Area Post

Scott E. Erickson, 46, has been appointed the new deputy superintendent of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, the National Park Service has announced.

Erickson, who will assume his new position Nov. 29, succeeds William Webb, who retired in May.

Erickson’s last job was safety and environmental health manager for Yosemite National Park. Prior to that he was marketing manager and consultant for a Boise, Ida., software company.

Before the break in his park service career, Erickson was chief ranger at Everglades National Park in Florida; program manager in the Washington branch of fire management in the Boise Interagency Fire Center, and fire management officer for BLM in Alaska.

Erickson graduated from the University of Maryland with a major in economics.
