Ceradyne Inc.: The Costa Mesa technical ceramics manufacturer said it lost $493,000, or 8 cents a share, for the third quarter. That compared to a loss of $577,000, or 9 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales gained 13% to $4.3 million from $3.8 million. The company’s year-to-date loss was $1.2 million, or 20 cents a share, compared to a loss of $1.9 million, or 31 cents a share, for the same period of 1993. Nine-month sales increased 8% to $13.1 million from $12.1 million.
