U.S. Oil Demand Up 4.1% in October: The American Petroleum Institute said total deliveries of oil products--a key measure of demand--averaged 18.032 million barrels a day, an increase of 709,000 barrels a day, or 4.1%, over the average set in October, 1993. As the economy grew last month, people drove more, companies put more cars and trucks on the road, and gasoline deliveries rose to an average of 7.877 million barrels a day. Another reason for the extra gasoline use: pent-up demand after a relatively slack month in September.
