I am writing in response to “Can We Stop Child Killing?” Voices, Nov. 7:

I agree that we need better prenatal care and better parenting preparation. I would like to see mandatory classes for all expectant parents. These classes should include prenatal, and parenting for mothers and fathers. Lamaze classes are offered to couples; why not offer parenting classes too?

We learn our basic parenting skills from our parents, family and experiences in our lives. Luckily, many of us have had good examples to follow but there are too many who have had bad experiences. By offering parenting classes, some young lives can be saved. BETTY WILLIAMS Los Angeles *

Yes, we can stop the child killing by giving custody to the father in a divorce. In L.A. County, 68% of children are killed by the mother or her boyfriend. It is in the best interest of the child to be placed with the father who wants custody. JOHN FLEISCHER Burbank
