OXNARD : Man Robs 2nd Bank Within a Month

Share

The FBI is searching for a man who on Wednesday robbed his second bank in Oxnard within the past month.

The robber, described as a Latino in his 20s with a light mustache, walked into a Bank of America branch on A Street in downtown Oxnard about 9:30 a.m. with a brown bag, told the teller that he had a pistol and handed over a note demanding money, said FBI Special Agent Larry Dick.

“He did it in such a way that no one noticed what was happening,” Dick said. “Only one bank worker was aware that a robbery was taking place.”

FBI agents quickly determined that Wednesday’s robber was the same man who held up a Bank of America on Saviers Road on Oct. 26, because the descriptions given by witnesses, the words used to ask for money and the notes all matched, Dick said.

Furthermore, surveillance cameras captured several clear shots of the man during each holdup.

Dick declined to say how much money the man had robbed or what he said to the tellers when asking for money.

Bank of America officials were not available for comment Wednesday.

The robbery was the 21st of the year in the county, Dick said. There were 45 robberies in all of 1993.
