Cosmetics Line Expanding: Maybelline Inc. said this week that it will introduce seven products in February, including two in its Revitalizing line for women 35 and older. Robert Hiatt, president and chief executive, said Maybelline is trying to “accelerate the ‘class to mass’ trend in cosmetics, as more consumers turn away from higher-priced department store brands for the convenience and affordability of high-quality mass-market products.” The products include mascara, an oil-free cream foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner and blush. Maybelline said the two products in its Revitalizing line are Revitalizing Alpha Hydroxy Make-Up and Revitalizing Alpha Hydroxy Intensive Night Cream. Sales of the Revitalizing line of cosmetics and skin care, which was launched in February, have been slower than expected both by analysts and the company. Memphis, Tenn.-based Maybelline sells its products in most drugstores, discount stores, supermarkets and cosmetics stores.
