Yorba Linda : County Aid Sought for Upkeep of Homes

Share

The city has applied for county money to help senior citizens and low-income residents improve their homes.

As part of a Community Block Development Grant, city officials are seeking $25,000 to help residents who are unable to maintain their homes.

Low-income residents who are no longer able to pay for trash service or cannot remove or repair inoperable vehicles could qualify for assistance in bringing their homes into compliance with city requirements.

In addition, the city wants to use the money to clean up abandoned homes with inoperable vehicles, trash and other unsightly and unsafe conditions.

A neighborhood cleanup project aimed at helping senior citizens and disabled residents maintain their homes also could benefit from the grant.

About $10,000 would go to an existing program that provides materials for landscaping, painting and minor repairs to volunteer groups that assist qualified residents who are physically unable to perform the repairs.
