Peterson Suspended From Titan Victory
Winston Peterson, Cal State Fullerton’s top returning player, sat out the Titans’ exhibition game Thursday night against the Blue and Gold Fleet for disciplinary reasons.
Peterson, a 15-point scorer last year, was suspended for the one game by Coach Bob Hawking, who declined further comment.
Reserve guard Danny Robinson, also a senior, was not suited up and is ineligible until at least Dec. 17 because of academic problems last spring.
If Robinson regains his eligibility, he will be available for the team’s Big West Conference opener Dec. 17 against Nevada Las Vegas, but he definitely will miss the Titans’ first four games.
Peterson will be available for the exhibition game Tuesday against the Townsville Suns.
The Titans won Thursday night’s exhibition, 111-100.
Guard James French led the way with 27 points, including three three-point baskets. Chuck Overton, a transfer from a community college in Salt Lake City, added 22 and Ali Nayab and John Williams each had 11 points. Nayab led the team with seven rebounds.
The Titans led by 10 at halftime and shot 60% from the field in the second half to maintain the lead.
Troy McCoy had 20 points and Sly Hunter and Al Lewis each had 18 for Blue and Gold Fleet.
