COLLEGE BASKETBALL / PRESEASON NIT : Ohio Knocks Off No. 14 Virginia
Gary Trent had 20 points and 13 rebounds Friday night as Ohio University scored a 94-83 victory over 14th-ranked Virginia in the second round of the Preseason NIT at Charlottesville, Va.
The Bobcats (2-0) were leading, 76-56, with 6:48 left, when Virginia (1-1) rallied.
At Washington, Kwame Evans scored 13 points and Nimbo Hammons and Antoine Hart had 12 each as George Washington reached the semifinals with a 62-59 victory over Canisius. Evans, Hammons and Hart were among five double-figure scorers for George Washington. The Colonials (2-0) will face Ohio at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
