OUR OWN MELTING POT : AN ETHNIC BREAKDOWN OF THOSE AROUND US
It’s often been said that America is a melting pot, but how do we and our neighbors fit into the picture? There has been much discussion lately about ethnicity, with the passage of Proposition 187, the anti-illegal immigration measure. In Los Angeles County, there are 3.6 million whites, 3.3 million Latinos and almost a million blacks. Here’s a snapshot of our local world.
