TUSTIN : Council to Consider New Youth Facilities

Adding youth recreational facilities to the southwest area will be among the discussion topics when the City Council meets at 7 tonight. .

At the suggestion of Councilman Jim Potts, the council will consider creating facilities, such as a youth center or a roller hockey rink. Possible locations for these youth programs include properties at the northeast corner of Newport and Sycamore avenues, and the northwest corner of Tustin Village Way and McFadden Avenue.

The council will also consider approaching various legal firms about the possibility of performing services for the city on a contract basis. The city has contracted legal services for the past three decades from Rourke, Woodruff & Spradlin.

“It’s been 30 years,” Potts said at the Nov. 7 council meeting. “I just think we need to see what’s out there.”

Other items on the council agenda Monday include:

* Amendments to the Town Center and South Center redevelopment plans.

* Regulations that would require political campaign signs to be removed within a designated period of time after elections.

* An operating plan for the Columbus Tustin Gymnasium.
