Share

The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is seeking five parents and five students from within the district to serve on a Uniform/Dress Code Task Force.

The task force, led by elementary and secondary education directors Susan Despenas and Tom Jacobsen, will consider dress-related problems in the district and form guidelines and a procedure for each school to set its own dress code. The panel will also include three administrators, four teachers, one classified employee and Community Communications Director Nadine Wilck.

Duties will include reviewing plans at other schools that have set up uniform policies; gathering information from the community about their preferences for dress codes; developing districtwide guidelines, and recommending them to the school board for adoption.
