L.A. Board Approves Art Grants

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved $365,500 in 1994-95 Organizational Grant Program awards, with the funds being split among 32 county arts groups.

The largest grants went to the L.A. Philharmonic Assn. ($110,000), L.A. Music Center Opera ($40,000), Center Theatre Group ($30,000) and Long Beach Opera ($20,000).

Additional recipients include the Glendale Symphony Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Pasadena Symphony Assn. ($15,000 each); the Aman Folk Ensemble, Bella Lewitzky Dance Foundation and Los Angeles Master Chorale ($10,000 each), and the Armory Center for the Arts, Cornerstone Theatre Company, Craft & Folk Art Museum, Odyssey Theatre Foundation, Performing Tree, Shakespeare Festival and young Musicians’ foundation ($5,000 each).

Several other organizations received grants totaling less than $5,000.

The Organizational Grant Program aims to strengthen local arts organizations and to make their performances more easily accessible to the public.
