30-Year Mortgage Rate Eclipses 3-Year High: The Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. said the average rose to 9.25% for the week ended Nov. 25 and is now the highest since the week ended Aug. 9, 1991, when it was 9.27%. A week ago, the average rate was 9.19%. The agency, known as Freddie Mac, also said the average rate on 15-year mortgages rose to 8.81% from 8.71% a week earlier. It said adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 6.35% in the week, the highest since 6.40% in the week of Nov. 15, 1991. A week ago, the rate was 6.12%. A year ago, the average 30-year rate was 7.31%, the 15-year was 6.84% and the adjustable was 4.30%.
