COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Gonzales Leads Cypress to Victory

Freshman Gil Gonzales made seven three-pointers for a game-high 21 points to lead Cypress to a 113-72 victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech in nonconference men’s basketball Wednesday night at Cypress.

Jeff Cummins had 19 points and Matt Kenney added 18, including four three-pointers, for the Chargers. Cypress (5-1) connected on 17 of 31 from three-point range.

Kenney led the Chargers with eight assists and Cummins and Jason Krauss each had a team-high seven rebounds.

Ernest Moore scored 22 points and Lawrence Dierbeck added 21 for Los Angeles Trade Tech (0-5).

In another nonconference men’s basketball game:

Cerritos 94, Rancho Santiago 87--Nick Holt scored 21 points, Jon Surface had 16 and Marlon Watson had 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Rancho Santiago (3-1). Cerritos (5-0) was led by Darius Rutledge’s game-high 25 points.
