PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Colts’ Emtman Out for the Season
Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman Steve Emtman has a herniated disk in his neck and will sit out the rest of the season.
Ted Marchibroda said Thursday that Emtman will have surgery in the next week to 10 days, but will not return this year. Spokesman Craig Kelley would not elaborate on when the injury occurred.
It is the third season-ending injury Emtman has suffered since the Colts made him the league’s first pick out of Washington in 1992.
Emtman started the first nine games of 1992 before he tore ligaments in his left knee against Miami on Nov. 8 that year. He returned the next year and started five games before tearing ligaments in his right knee against Dallas on Oct. 10.
