National Gypsum Trust Wants Out of Asbestos Settlement: A National Gypsum Co. trust sought to withdraw from a $1.3-billion settlement worked out among asbestos manufacturers, saying court decisions in favor of its insurance carriers may leave the trust without enough money to pay its share of claims 10 years hence. Under the so-called Georgine settlement, National Gypsum and about 20 other companies are to support a fund for settling asbestos-related injury claims. About 260,000 individual claimants have opted out of the settlement.
