Sex Education
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I read the quote by Kandy Zierenberg regarding her opposition to Moorpark High School teaching its students the proper use of condoms.
She said, “The more it (sex) is discussed, the less kids are embarrassed and embarrassment solves a lot of problems.” Does she really believe that?
Believe me, sex education isn’t teaching these kids how to have sex, they know how to have sex, and a large percentage of them are having sex. The only question is, how informed are they about how to protect themselves against disease and unwanted pregnancy?
And when does Ms. Zierenberg feel it is appropriate for people to learn about protected sex? Ever? Or are we supposed to be “embarrassed” about it all our lives?
