Share

Three forums to discuss the legal status of Proposition 187 are scheduled at Cal State Northridge.

The forums, moderated by university President Blenda Wilson, will specifically address how the proposition affects the university community. Wilson recently released a statement saying that CSUN would not take any steps toward enforcing the proposition while it is being challenged in the courts.

Two forums will be held Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 to 2 p.m., in the Shoshone Room of the school’s satellite student union. The third will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sala de Osa in the satellite student union.

In other CSUN news, the school was recently recognized for a program in teacher education by the American Assn. of State Colleges and Universities.

One of only four public universities to be honored by the association, CSUN was awarded for its work with the Los Angeles Unified School District in developing a program that prepares teachers for urban and multicultural schools.

The annual award is named for Christa McAuliffe, the teacher who died in the 1986 explosion of the space shuttle Challenger.
