LOS ALAMITOS : Top Older Horses Vie for Champions Berths
Tonight’s $20,000 Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trial will feature nine of the top older horses at Los Alamitos vying for the remaining two spots in the Champion of Champions. The top two finishers in the Directors Trial will earn berths to the Champion of Champions, to be held Dec. 17 at Los Alamitos.
One of the top contenders in tonight’s trial is Heza Fast Man, a 3-year-old colt trained by John Bassett for San Tan Tillage, Inc. Heza Fast Man recently won the Vandy’s Flash Handicap at Los Alamitos, and previously finished second in both the All American Futurity and Derby. He has a career record of ten wins from 15 starts. Regular rider Henry Garcia will be aboard in the trial.
Including Heza Fast Man, a field of nine will go in the Directors Trial. Also entered are Seals, Childish, Pritzi Dash, Ima Killer Yawl, Femmes Frolic, Sticky N Picky, Angry Angel and Ronas Deal.
Horses that have already earned berths to the Champion of Champions: Refrigerator, Sound Dash, Down With Debt, Avison, I Hear A Symphony, Specially Fast, Sheza First Down and Brotherly.
