Unemployment Figures Due: When the November jobless rate reports come out Friday for Los Angeles County and the rest of the state, it should give analysts a clearer sense of just how solid the apparent economic recovery here really is. Reports have shown unemployment in the state declining sharply over the last three months and over the last two months in the county, even as separate surveys show California continuing to lose jobs. Many economists are skeptical that things are improving as much as the jobless figures suggest. Another month’s figures, however, could help establish a true trend. In October, the jobless rate was 7.8% for the county, down from 8.3% in September and 10.3% in August. For the state, unemployment in October was 7.7%, continuing its decline from 9.0% in July. In the November figures, “If we don’t get a little upward bounce (in the jobless rates), it means we really have something cooking,” one economist said.
