Intel Reveals 2nd Bug in Pentium Chip: The company said it has fixed the problem, which was discovered in some of its top-of-the line computer chips, but new microprocessors without flaws won’t be widely available to computer makers for several weeks. The second bug, which was discovered in the third quarter, slowed the performance of the 100-megahertz Pentium chip running in some multiprocessor computers and has been corrected, Intel Corp. said. The disclosure of the additional flaw comes as the world’s largest independent chip maker struggles to contain the furor about a flaw in the Pentium that wasn’t disclosed by the company until a debate sprang up on the Internet.
