Faculty members at Orange Coast College will host a conference on human rights next week.

The college’s International Education Committee--which encourages teaching students about their place in a global community--will put on “Human Rights Day of the United Nations” panels Thursday, OCC Assistant Prof. Fazlollah Berdjis said.

Speakers will talk about how the United Nations can work to prevent oppression worldwide and are likely to discuss civil war in the former Yugoslavia, Berdjis said.

Tamy Jacobi, deputy director of the Western region of Amnesty International, will give a report on human rights violations across the world, said Berdjis.
