Dayton Hudson Moving 500 Jobs Out of California: Dayton Hudson Corp. will consolidate the credit operations of its Mervyn’s and department store divisions in Minneapolis, moving the jobs to Minnesota from California, the company said. The 500 workers at Mervyn’s headquarters in Hayward, Calif., will be offered a chance to relocate, the company said. Dayton Hudson said the cost of the consolidation will result in a fourth-quarter pretax charge of about $10 million, or 8 cents per share, but will result in significant future savings. The current Minneapolis credit operation also serves Target Stores, which Dayton Hudson owns along with Marshall Fields, Dayton’s and Hudson’s department stores.
