Gays, Lesbians Need Workplace Anti-Discrimination Law

Share

“The Last Frontier” (Nov. 27) presents the great problem in business today for any gay or lesbian professional. One can be professional in behavior, professional in appearance and attitude. One can do an excellent day’s work and still face a stigma and employment discrimination if openly homosexual within the ranks of an organization.

This can leave a decision to the individual: Be honest with co-workers with a clear conscience and thinner pocketbook, or live an untruthful life.

This is why the government would serve us all well by protecting homosexuals from discrimination in the workplace. Then business owners and corporate officers could point to that law as the reason their companies must by law use gay and lesbian employees in a manner warranted by their talents and abilities.
