WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Thompson Leads Trojan Victory

Tina Thompson had 21 points and 17 rebounds, both game highs, Saturday to lead 24th-ranked USC to a 75-71 victory over UC Santa Barbara at the Sports Arena.
Thompson was six of 10 from the field and nine of 11 from the line for USC (2-1). Karleen Shields added 17 points for the Trojans.
Santa Barbara (2-1) was led by Kellie Cook with 18 points, 12 on four-for-eight shooting from three-point range.
Iesha Smith, with 12 points, was the only other Santa Barbara player in double figures.
Boise State 61, UCLA 45--Boise State (2-2), capitalizing on the Bruins’ poor shooting, took a 13-point halftime lead on the way to an easy victory at Boise, Ida.
Kisa Hughes led UCLA (1-2) with 11 points.
The Bruins ended up shooting only 28% from the field.
Boise State’s Michelle Schultz led all scorers with 25 points on 12-of-24 shooting.
Boise State was playing its first game without point guard Trisha Bader, out for the season because of a knee injury.
