BEVERLY HILLS : Farmers Market Moves to Temporary Site

The Beverly Hills Farmers Market is loading up its fruits and vegetables and moving one block south of its usual site, to the 200 block of North Canon Drive, for this month.
The decision to move the market came after several retailers in the 300 block complained that easy access to the stores is blocked by shoppers who crowd the farmers market on Sundays, said Cindy Aller-Sterling, executive assistant in the Beverly Hills city manager’s office.
Aller-Sterling declined to identify the retailers who have complained, but added that some expressed concern that the market would conflict with business now that some of the retailers are open on Sunday for the holiday season.
Although the move is being called temporary, the city may consider permanently shifting the weekly market to the 200 block of North Canon Drive if feedback from nearby retailers is positive, Aller-Sterling said.
About 25 farmers participate in the market, selling fresh produce, plants and flowers from stalls set up in the street.
