Search Continues for 3 Missing on Plane
Search teams canvassed the Kern County area Sunday in hopes of learning what had happened to three Long Beach men aboard a single-engine plane missing for a week after an apparent crash, authorities said.
But the day’s efforts provided few new leads, and bad weather in the region grounded air crews for a second consecutive day, said Lt. Col. Sydney J. Wolfe of the Civil Air Patrol. Because of stormy weather, officials do not expect to resume air searches for the trio until Tuesday, he said.
Missing are pilot Peter J. Deleo, 33, and two passengers, Waverly Hatch, 49, and Lloyd Matsumoto, 55. Wolfe said the three men left Long Beach Airport on Nov. 27.
