LA PALMA : Applicants Sought for Advisory Panels

Applicants are sought for 12 vacancies on citizen advisory committees in the city.

There are eight openings on the Cultural and Beautification Committee, three openings on the Traffic Safety Committee and one on the Development Committee.

The Development Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of every other month, beginning in January. Members review proposed subdivisions and commercial structures. City Clerk Brigitte Charles said desirable qualifications include an ability to read landscaping plans and working drawings and some knowledge of municipal government. Members are paid $25 per meeting.

The other openings are unpaid. The Cultural and Beautification Committee meets at 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. Charles said applicants should have an interest in promoting culture and arts.

The Traffic Safety Committee meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of January, April, July and October. Charles said that applicants should, preferably, have a knowledge of traffic and safety laws as they pertain to development.
