--A season-high five players scored in double figures, including junior college transfer Ty Reuter’s career-high 10 points.

“This game was a lot fun in that we all were able to get into flow on the court,” said Crouse, whose previous career-highs were six points and four rebounds. “It was great to be able to do things you normally wouldn’t do in a game.”

While USC enjoyed its best game of the season to improve to 2-3, Sacramento State’s woes continued.

The Hornets, who are in their fourth season playing at the Division I level, stretched their two-season losing streak to 28 games and their road losing streak to 52.

Sacramento State (0-5) shot 37.5% from the field and made only two of 14 three-point attempts. During a 10-minute stretch covering the end of the first half and the start of the second, the Hornets were outscored, 23-0.

“The Pac-10’s talent level is a different level,” said Sacramento State Coach Don Newman, who has a 4-55 record in three seasons. “We finally have some kids who can compete, but winning (against Pac-10 teams) is not going to happen overnight.”

Michael Boyd, who played at Gardena High, led the Hornets with 18 points, and Damond Edwards scored 10 but had 12 of the team’s 25 turnovers.

USC, which led, 48-25, at halftime, clicked in all areas while shooting a season-high 54.7% from the field and outrebounding the Hornets, 41-30.

“The thing I liked about the game was that the team stayed focused throughout,” Parker said. “A lot of times when you get a big lead, games turn into a circus. But we didn’t do that tonight.”

Trojan sophomore Jaha Wilson scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds, and junior Brandon Martin scored 12 with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

“Our guys are getting in shape and playing in the system,” Parker said. “I’m proud of them, how hard they played and how they stayed focused.”

USC Notes

USC will now travel to Texas to play at Houston and Lamar this weekend. Murray, who also had seven turnovers, broke the single-game steals record that previously was held by four players. USC’s 37-point victory is the largest margin since the Trojans defeated Howard, 107-65, last season. Three Trojans had career-highs in scoring--Crouse, Reuter and walk-on guard Adam Ingersoll, who scored two.
