Countywide : Olive Crest Children’s Homes Seek Donations

Olive Crest is looking for a wide range of donations--from appliances to Christmas toys.

The nonprofit organization has 13 group homes in Orange County that try to create a family environment for physically and sexually abused children who have been taken from their parents by the courts.

Olive Crest finds houses in neighborhoods that become homes for six children from preschoolers through age 18.

“Unfortunately, Christmas is a time when our children are most painfully aware of what they do not have and what other children do have,” said Darryl Anderson, chairman of the Olive Crest board of directors. “We strive to make them feel valued, loved and cared for, especially during this time of year.”

Because the homes need constant upkeep and essential household goods need to be replaced, group home officials said, requests on their holiday wish list include furniture, major appliances, televisions, VCRs, vacuum cleaners, kitchen goods and other household items.

For more information about Olive Crest programs or to make a donation, call Julie Seaborn at (714) 543-KIDS, Ext. 144.
