Sex Tape Distributor Fined $10,000

A Canoga Park distributor of sex videotapes was ordered to donate $10,000 to Children of the Night, the nonprofit group that helps young runaways, after being convicted of a misdemeanor for selling obscene videos, the city attorney’s office said Friday.
Fantastic Pictures Inc. was also placed on two years’ probation and barred from disseminating any materials depicting rape, bestiality, sex with minors or other illegal acts.
Los Angeles Municipal Court Commissioner Barry Kohn imposed the sentence after company attorneys entered a no-contest plea to a charge of committing a public nuisance.
The case began in January, when undercover LAPD vice detectives attended a consumer electronics show in Las Vegas and spotted brochures for videos at a booth operated by Zane Entertainment.
Detectives learned that Zane Entertainment and Fantastic Pictures were under common management from 21528 Osborne St., Canoga Park. They conducted surveillance, made two undercover buys of videotapes and conducted a search of the offices, finding the evidence for Friday’s conviction.
