FULLERTON/LA HABRA : Election Season Was Academic for These 6 Trustees

Share

While almost all school districts in the county congratulated trustees who won elected office, six board members of the Fullerton Joint Union High and La Habra City school districts didn’t need accolades.

The trustees--three in the Fullerton district and three in the La Habra district--didn’t campaign, spend money or solicit votes to win their elections. They didn’t even have to run in last month’s election because no one challenged them.

The shoo-in candidates slipped back into office for four more years of the same routine--making policy, handing out proclamations and handling disciplinary hearings.

In Fullerton, Marilyn Buchi, Robert N. Hathaway and Robert A. Singer were sworn in Tuesday. Antonio Valle Jr. and Nancy Zinberg were sworn in Thursday in La Habra. Linda Navarro Edwards of La Habra will be sworn in at the next school board meeting in January. She was absent for the formality last week.

The trustees, most of whom are school board veterans, said they were glad they didn’t have to campaign for reelection.

“I hope that it says that the people in our communities are happy with the way the districts are being governed,” said Buchi, who has been on the board for 11 years. She also was chosen to serve as president next year.

Valle, a 13-year school board member, was chosen to serve as president in La Habra.
