Kmart Cuts 900 Jobs: The Troy, Mich.-based retailer, under pressure from investors to reduce expenses, cut the full-time jobs and launched a reorganization of its New Jersey-based fashion facility. Kmart Corp. Chairman Joseph Antonini said the layoffs, affecting almost every department at Kmart’s international headquarters, are part of the company’s efforts to reduce expenses to $600 million from $800 million by 1996.
