Lancaster Man Finds Old Smoke Grenades Buried in His Yard
LANCASTER —
A man called the Antelope Valley sheriff’s station Saturday saying he had found what looked like four hand grenades while digging in his yard.
Explosives experts later determined that the devices, found at 120th Street East about 3:15 p.m., were actually smoke grenades used to mark military aircraft landings, said Deputy David Reddish.
Deputies have not determined how old the grenades were or how they got to Merril McLernon’s yard, Reddish said.
