CKE Restaurants Inc.: The Anaheim fast-food company reported that profit for its third fiscal quarter dropped to $286,000, or 2 cents a share, from $1.6 million, or 9 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter ended Nov. 7 declined 3% to $103.8 million from $107.1 million.

Profit for the nine-month period totaled $1.8 million, or 10 cents a share, down from earnings of $4.1 million, or 22 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. The company, parent of the Carl’s Jr. restaurant chain, attributed the decline in earnings to start-up costs of its Boston Chicken franchise stores.
