Microsemi Corp.: The Santa Ana supplier of custom semiconductor chips posted a loss of $2.1 million, or 28 cents a share, for its fiscal year ended Oct. 2. That contrasted with profit of $3 million, or 35 cents a share, for the previous 12 months, which included a gain of $1.3 million from an accounting change. Annual revenue totaled $119.2 million, compared to $123.8 million.

The company said the 1993 revenue figure included $7.5 million from businesses sold either in fiscal 1993 or before the end of fiscal 1994. For the fourth quarter, the company recorded a loss of $4.5 million, or 60 cents a share, which included an inventory write down of nearly $10 million.

For the same period a year earlier, the company had a profit of $950,000, or 11 cents a share. Three-month sales rose 5% to $31.3 million from $29.8 million.
