Restaurant Card Firm Plans New Office in County

Western Transmedia Co. Inc. said Tuesday it will use $2.2 million in proceeds from a recent stock and warrant offering to open an office in Orange County.

Western Transmedia, based in San Francisco, is the California franchisee for Transmedia Network, a network of restaurants that accept The Restaurant Card, a private restaurant charge card that entitles holders to a 25% discount on regular menu prices of food and beverages.

Western Transmedia has about 58,000 cardholders and more than 500 participating restaurants in California. The new office will be charged with adding restaurants in Orange County, where Western Transmedia has about a dozen participating locations.

No site has been selected yet for the new office, the company said.
