New York Comptroller’s Office Joins Internet: The office announced it will become the first local government agency to make some of its financial information available to individuals through the worldwide computer network, city Comptroller Alan G. Hevesi said. The city joins FinanceNet, a user group designed to encourage the exchange of information on government finance. The comptroller’s office can post audits, reports and other information for users of the Internet. Information provided by the comptroller’s office can be found on “NYCCompNet.” It is available through most Internet services using the gopher system and the address of gopher.financeNet.gov.
