NEWPORT BEACH : No Trace of Man Who Left to Run Errands

After 15 days of searching, Newport Beach police still have no leads to a missing 52-year-old man who was last seen driving his wife to work, authorities said Thursday.

“He never came back to pick her up,” Police Sgt. Andy Gonis said.

Raymond Carl Vincent of Newport Beach was reported missing Dec. 13, after taking his wife, Mikie, to work at an Irvine business that morning. At 10:30 a.m., he telephoned his brother-in-law to say that he had several errands to run, said Vincent’s younger sister, Cherie Raborn.

Vincent’s beige Mercedes-Benz was abandoned the same day in the 5400 block of Walnut Avenue in Irvine, but reported three days later, Gonis said. The key was still in the ignition when police recovered the car Dec. 16.

Raborn said the $144 in Vincent’s bank account has not been withdrawn and he has not used his credit cards.

“I know him and I know he wouldn’t leave like this,” she said.

Raborn last spoke to her brother Dec. 12, when the two had discussed money problems. The two were partners in an embroidery business that failed two years ago. Raborn said Vincent filed for bankruptcy this year.

“But that wasn’t enough for him to leave,” she said. “I can’t think of any reasons why he would get up and go like that.”

There is no sign of foul play, Gonis said.

Raborn is 6-foot-1, weighs 210 pounds, has blond hair and blue eyes, according to records from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
