A man who claimed to have a gun robbed a Port Hueneme bank Thursday morning and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The robber handed a note demanding cash to a teller at the Bank of America branch in the 700 block of Channel Islands Boulevard at 10:10 a.m., police said.
Police responded to an alarm from the bank, but when officers arrived the man had already fled on foot. The robber, described as about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and in his 20s, told the teller he had a gun, but it was not seen, police said.
Port Hueneme investigators said they, the FBI and the Oxnard Police Department are pursuing several leads.
“We’re very hopeful,” Port Hueneme Detective Jerry Beck said. “We’ve got some good leads.”
