A Saugus woman died early Thursday after driving away from a party at more than 100 m.p.h. and crashing into a tree, authorities said.

Dayna Hong, 34, was driving her car south on Bouquet Canyon Road when the single- car accident occurred about 3:20 a.m. at Alamogordo Road, said Lt. Tim Peters of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We believe she was driving in excess of 100 m.p.h. when she lost control of her vehicle,” he said. “It came up on two wheels and struck a light, shearing off the top of the car, and it ended up hitting a tree.”

The speed limit on Bouquet Canyon Road--one of the city’s main thoroughfares--at the accident site is 50 m.p.h., Deputy Mike Shapiro said.

Hong died shortly after being transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.

Sheriff’s deputies were called about 2 a.m. to calm a loud party at which Hong and her boyfriend were among the guests, Peters said. He said deputies are still determining whether she was drinking at the party.

“Many of the people there were quite under the influence of alcohol,” Peters said.
