Susana Palacio Campos of Ventura, who danced with her great-great-grandchildren at her 90th birthday celebration last year, died Saturday. She was 91.

Joseph C. Campos of Rodeo said his aunt spent many years helping her late husband, Augustin, run a grocery store they owned in Santa Paula.

Her main job, though, was taking care of her home and family, which grew to include a dozen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, her nephew said.

Campos said about 50 family members gathered last year for his aunt’s 90th birthday party. The family hired a mariachi band for the event, he said.

“She must have danced with everyone in the place,” he said. “It surprised me that she had so much energy.”

Campos, who was born in Venus Camp, Calif., lived in Ventura County for 75 years. She was a member of the San Buenaventura Mission Guadalupana Society, a volunteer group that helps support the mission.

Her husband died in 1981.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria McGill of Ventura and her sons, Joe Campos of Torrance and John Campos of Ventura. Another son, Richard Campos, was killed in the Korean War. Three bothers--Edward, Joe and Guadalupe Palacio--also survive.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Chapel in Ventura. A funeral mass is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday at San Buenaventura Mission.
