Bright Future Forecast for German Economies: The western German economy could grow at an annual rate of 2.5% between now and 1999, and the eastern German economy could grow as much as 8.5% in the period, according to the Ifo Institut, one of Germany’s leading economic research organizations. That would create a pan-German growth rate of 3%, it said. Western German economic growth will peak at 3.5% in 1996, the institute said, then slow to 3% between 1997 and 1999.
